• Small plane crash in Newton Sunday kills one


    NEWTON - According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a small plane crashed in Newton around 8 p.m. Sunday.

    One person was on board. The sheriff’s office has confirmed a fatality in the crash, but has not released the victim’s identity.

    The FAA will release the aircraft registration after authorities release the victim's identity.

    The FAA is investigating the crash, and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine probable cause.
