Republican National Convention 2016 live updates: Trump's big night

Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump, walks out to the stage to greet Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana during the third day session of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Wednesday, July 20, 2016.

CLEVELAND — It’s been an odd week for the Republicans. First, there was the controversy over Melania Trump’s speech; then Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn  amazingly ties bathrooms and war together; there’s another apparent “borrowing” of some speech material and, on Wednesday, along comes Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and his non-endorsement.

Add  to that the fact that Donald Trump, the party’s  nominee has wondered in and out of the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland  like a man looking for his hat, and you’ve got quite the week.

But, if there is one thing Trump has promised us for the last 12 months, it’s that this was in no way going to be your father’s GOP convention.

So we enter the last day and await Trump’s speech – and all that that implies.

Check back here around 6:45 p.m. ET for live updates from Cleveland.
