Texas triplets fulfill dream of attending same university

FRISCO, Texas — A set of Texas triplets will realize a dream of attending the same college, another milestone for a siblings who were born premature, WFAA reported.

Two of the siblings -- Davis Newton and Brantley-Kate Newton -- were able to come home 14 weeks after their birth, the television station reported. However, Rees Newton, who was born with mental and physical disabilities, spent nearly a year in a hospital before he came home for good, WFAA reported.

"(Rees) is the strongest person I have ever met … ever," Denise Newton, the triplets’ mother, told the television station.

The triplets attended Frisco High School. Brantley-Kate and Davis received early acceptance into Mississippi State University.

"I didn't know what to do if they went off to college and *(Rees) didn't get that experience," Denise Newtown told WFAA.

Rees was able to qualify for college because of a program at Mississippi State called ACCESS, a four-year, non-degree program for students with disabilities, according to the program's website.

That resulted in Rees being accepted to the university.

Mississippi State is the alma mater of the triplets’ father, John Newton.

"It was up there with their birth, to be quite honest," John Newton told WFAA.
