LARGO, Fla. — A Florida man working as a general manager at a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant is accused of stealing nearly $73,000 from the business, authorities said.
Grant Gibson, 42, of Largo, was arrested on Monday and charged with one count of grand theft of greater than $20,000 but less than $100,000, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.
According to an arrest affidavit filed in Pinellas County court, Gibson had been the general manager since August 2021 when another store manager was transferred to the Largo restaurant in July 2022 to assist him.
The affidavit stated that the new manager “almost immediately noticed” that change order payments ordered from Gibson and delivered by a Brinks truck had not been recorded, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The affidavit also stated that “the safe counts were off.”
The company began reviewing the safe counts and discovered 32 instances since Jan. 4, 2022, in which Gibson allegedly did not record money.
According to the Largo Police Department, the total amount of cash missing was $72,820, the affidavit stated.
A review of surveillance camera video showed Gibson allegedly taking bags of money out of the restaurant on two occasions and returning empty-handed, WFLA-TV reported.
Gibson remains in the Pinellas County Jail with bail set at $10,000, online booking records show.
According to online court records, Gibson is scheduled for a bond hearing on March 7.
