Toyota of N Charlotte can help you fix a flat tire with car maintenance tips!

When it comes to actually changing a flat tire and getting back behind the wheel, all that's needed is a few simple tools to help you successfully (and safely) put a spare tire on a car.

Pull over onto a flat surface

The first thing you need to do if your car gets flat tire is pull off the side of the road – preferably somewhere flat, and out of the way. You'll need to be able to freely and safely move around the vehicle so try to get as far off the road or highway as you can.

Loosen the lugnuts

Use a lug wrench to loosen the lugnuts on the tire that's flat. You'll need to loosen to lugnuts in order to remove the hubcap, but don't taken any parts off just yet. To start loosening them, simply use the lugwrench and turn the lugnuts counter clockwise.

Jack up the car

In order to deliver this kind of car maintenance in Charlotte, you'll need to have easy access to the car and the tire that needs to have the spare put on instead. To do this, use the jack and place it underneath a sturdy part of the frame. Then slowly start cranking it up so you can easily start this car maintenance. If you're unsure or worried about the best place to put the jack, you can always check the owner's manual!

Put on the spare tire

Once the vehicle is jacked off the ground, you can take the lugnuts off and remove the hubcap so you can take the flat tire off and slip on the spare. Then use the lugnut wrench to put the lugnuts back on and tighten them to the spare.
