FORECAST: Heat wave continues before weekend cooldown, chance of storms

  • We’re tracking another day of extreme heat across the Carolinas.
  • Temperatures will once again climb into the upper 90s this afternoon and feel more like 100 to 105.
  • Heat Advisories are in place for the Charlotte metro and neighborhoods to the east until 8 pm.
  • There’s another low-end risk for a shower or storm today, mostly for the mountains and foothills.
  • The extreme heat will linger one more day as we start the weekend.
  • We’re back in the mid to upper 90s Saturday, with a better chance for a few storms late in the afternoon through about sunset as a cold front approaches the area.
  • We’ll watch for a low-end severe risk with damaging winds and hail as the top threats.
  • Behind this front, temperatures will briefly dip down into the 80s Sunday-Tuesday!
