- We have one more quiet day in the forecast before unsettled weather from Isaias moves into the Carolinas this weekend.
- Clouds will build tonight and Friday, with milder temperatures Friday morning starting near 60 degrees. Highs will climb back into the upper 70s, and conditions should remain dry for Friday night football and other outdoor activities.
- Isaias is expected to make landfall along the Gulf Coast Friday night before moving inland. The storm’s track remains to our west as it moves north into Tennessee over the weekend.
- Rain from the system will begin moving into the Carolinas Saturday. Forecast models continue to suggest a faster timeline, with rain possible during the day Saturday and continuing on and off through Sunday.
- The heaviest rain is still expected late Saturday and into early Sunday morning. A low flood risk is possible, mainly in the mountains, but overall the rain is expected to provide a beneficial soaking.
- Around 1 to 2 inches of rain are expected across the Charlotte metro, with totals closer to 3 to 4 inches possible in western North Carolina.
- There is also a low risk for an isolated, spin-up tornado into Sunday, but widespread severe weather is not expected.
