Get lost in fun at Rural Hill corn maze

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a popular fall tradition is set to make a return.

Last year, the Amazing Maize Maze at Rural Hill was canceled after hot temperatures and lack of rain left the corn field in sad shape.

Thankfully, the crops fared much better this year, and the seven-acre corn maze is now open through Nov. 1.

Organizers have announced several new safety measures, including that timed entry tickets must be purchased in advance to help manage crowds.

In addition, since some of the paths inside the maze aren’t wide enough to allow proper social distancing between groups, face coverings will be required.

Orientation will be done by video this year, too. When you purchase a ticket online, you’ll receive a link to the instructional video.

Also new for the 2020 maze, Rural Hill has launched a phone app to replace the traditional game board. Visitors will use the app to answer the crossword clues and unlock map pieces to help find their way through the maze.

The Night Maze is returning this year as well. The Night Maze will be open on Fridays and Saturdays, Sept. 25 through Oct. 31.

Tickets cost $12 for daytime visits and $15 for the Night Maze.

Tickets for dates in September can be purchased here.
