Charlotte’s historical hidden gems: Davis General Store

CHARLOTTE — From the American Revolution to hidden pieces of history right in the heart of uptown, Charlotte is home to many historic spots if you know where to look.

Walk into Davis General Store and you’ll feel like you’ve traveled back to the early 1900s.

Opened in 1908 and built from red brick made from local clay dug on site, this designated historic landmark is remarkably well-preserved.

Today, its operated by Silas Davis, a grandson of co-founder S.W. Davis.

Drop by for a visit and grab a cold Cheerwine or Blenheim Ginger Ale and Moon Pie.

You’ll also find work boots, seed, Carhartt apparel, cast iron cookware, feed and locally made treats for sale.

Fun fact: Cinemax filmed scenes for the series “Banshee” outside the store.

Find it: 8940 Old Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269
