Olivia Rodrigo captivates sold-out crowds at the Spectrum Center

CHARLOTTE — Consider yourself lucky and fortunate, if you were at the Olivia Rodrigo concert in Charlotte on October 7, 2026, at the Spectrum Center.

Tickets for the whole tour have been sold out, merely minutes after each show going on sale. Olivia Rodrigo is in such demand, each city on the tour has multi-day bookings. The “Unraveled Tour” lasts through May 2027, although the last North American dates conclude at the end of February.

Opening the show in Charlotte was Wolf Alice, a British rock band, who released their fourth studio album last year. It went to #1 album on the UK charts. Their 9-song setlist included a few songs from The Clearing album, including “Bloom Baby Bloom”, “White Horses”, and “The Sofa”. By the time their second song came around, the band had the crowd clapping their hands and swaying their arms in the air back and forth.

While the band performed a few mellow rock songs, they really pulled a punch with the edgy song, “Play the Greatest Hits”, with lead singer Ellie Rowsell, rapping and rocking out all in the same song.

Moments after Wolf Alice ended their set, the video screen at the back of the stage displayed a sleeping Olivia Rodrigo in a bed of Spring flowers. The video screen was like an extension of the visible stage, which was made to resemble a field of fresh flowers, appearing to be growing right out of the stage flooring.

Right at 8 p.m., you could see Olivia waking up from her sleep as the lights dimmed and the crowd started screaming. The camera appears to be slivering through the flowers until it reaches Olivia, where she opens her eyes and sings directly into the camera, before she slowly rises out of the bed of flowers in the middle of the stage. From that moment, it was game on, and everyone in the crowd was on the team.

For most of the night, the flowers remained on stage, but not before Olivia having her way with them, at one point pulling them out of the “ground” and kicking the flowers around as she put on full theatrics during the song, “good 4 u”, showing her anger from the theme of the relationship song.

The setlist of 24 songs was divided into six acts going through all the seasons and coming back around to a second Spring in Act 6. Act 3 named Summer Twilight included the songs, “vampire” and “purple.”

Early on in her show, she paused to give gratitude to all those involved in the tour and making it all happen, from the folks handling the lighting, the video, the stage build, the flowers, and her band. Throughout the night, not only did she use the full stage, along with the catwalks on each side and her two B-stages, she showed off her instrumental talent by playing guitar on multiple occasions, as well as playing piano for a few songs including “honeybee”, in which Olivia stated was one of her favorites to perform live.

As Act 5 wound down, Olivia took to one of the B-stages, where she sang the beautiful song, “the cure”, and a shower of water from above rained down on the artist, melting away her white dress to reveal a red dress underneath. While there was no scheduled encore break, the time it took for her to dry off and change essentially was the encore break.

Below stage, the camera let the audience see her put on her tennis shoes and squeeze out her hair one last time. As she sat up, Olivia looked right into the camera, fogged up the lens with her breath and drew a heart right on the lens, right before taking the few steps up and onto stage, where the final act commenced with “deja vu.” It wasn’t long before the confetti cannons blasted in sequence, raining confetti across the arena, which lasted until the final song began.

As “expectations” came to an end, the recurring theme that kept coming to my mind throughout the evening, was how every single person in that arena was having a blast. Every person was on their feet, singing, dancing, taking in the awe of an Olivia Rodrigo concert one way or another. It’s no wonder every single show is sold out. Oliva played a second sold-out show in Charlotte the next night on October 8th, 2026.
