Competitions, concerts highlight Tuck Fest

Experience the outdoor lifestyle through competitions, exhibitions, demos and live music at Tuck Fest, a four-day festival happening Thursday through Sunday at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.

The event will feature more than 30 competitions in and around the river, including trail running, kayaking, biking, climbing, stand-up paddleboarding and adventure racing.

There is no fee for spectators coming to watch the events and bands or participate in clinics and land-based yoga. Parking will cost $6.

If you do want to take part in any of the competitions, registration is a one-time flat fee of $40 that allows you to participate in as many Tuck Fest races and competitions as you’d like throughout the weekend except for the invitation-only Deep Water Solo Competition. Race day registration will be available for $45.

Headlining artists include Fantastic Negrito on Thursday, The Marcus King Band and J. Roddy Walston and The Business on Friday, Caamp and Tyler Childers on Saturday, and Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors and The Milk Carton Kids on Sunday.

Fun festival fact:  The name “Tuck Fest” comes from the Tuckaseegee Ford and Trail, a historical landmark located at the USNWC. The Ford is the first known crossing point along the Catawba River that was traveled by Native Americans and European settlers.
