CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bob Higgins swims a lot. He likes to measure his time and distance. So he went on Amazon and bought a "used like new" Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro sports watch for about $150. It can go in the pool.
But soon afterward, he said, "It was dead. It was completely unresponsive. No lights. Anything."
He told Action 9's Jason Stoogenke he noticed a problem with the screws.
"There were no screws in three of the holes on the back," he said. "Obviously water leaked through these holes into the device and it stopped functioning."

He went right to the company that made the watch and sold it on Amazon, Samsung.
"I'm getting stonewalled," he said. "At some point, it's not about the money. It's just about the principle."
Action 9 emailed Samsung. The company didn't send a statement explaining the situation, but it did call Higgins.
"I got a call. Somebody took ownership of it," he told Stoogenke. "You guys were able to get results."
Samsung gave him a full refund.
Action 9 emailed Amazon. The company was still working on a response as of Thursday.
In the meantime, if you buy something used on Amazon, just remember it usually doesn't come with a manufacturer's warranty. You should still be able to return it. But sellers' return policies vary. So, check out the "Returns and Refunds Policy" section on the seller's profile page.
