A major Caldwell County company is laying off more than 300 people.
Caldwell Freight will close its shipping operations in Lenoir.
The president of the company told Channel 9's Dave Faherty last week that they sold the business and were trying to save as many jobs as possible.
The Employment Security Commission received notice late last week that they were closing the business altogether.
Channel 9 learned that Caldwell Freight is at the center of a federal lawsuit that was filed this week in Statesville.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed the suit accusing the company of discrimination.
Channel 9 has emailed the company's president but has not heard back.
