GASTON COUNTY, N.C.,None — A 55-gallon drum in the back of a Road Way tractor trailer leaked sulfuric acid on Tuesday around 1 p.m.
Officials from the Gastonia Fire Department responded to the intersection of North Chester and New Way for the reported leak.
The trucker told fire crews that as he turned off I-85, he heard the drum turn over and when he pulled off the road to check it out, he discovered a small leak of the sulfuric acid solution.
Gastonia Fire Department's Hazmat team packaged the container to contain the leak so it could be transported safely.
