The drop in price compares with the national average that has fallen 4.2 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.61 per gallon, according to the site.

The national average has increased 2.4 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 88.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

"It took the end of summer for a drop in retail gasoline prices, but I'm sure motorists won't complain that we're finally seeing some drops in prices," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst.

DeHaan said he expects gas prices to continue to fall through the month of October, possibly as low as $3.35 per gallon.
