Jordan Brand Signs Denny Hamlin To Apparel Deal

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — ESPN is reporting Thursday that Jordan Brand has officially signed NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin to an apparel deal.

The sources said that Hamlin will wear the famous "jumpman" logo on his gloves, uniform belt, back and shoulder areas. Hamlin will not wear the Jordan Brand shoes in the car, but will wear them off the track.

It's unusual for major sneaker brands to get involved with NASCAR but with Michael Jordan's passion for motor sports combined with his sponsorship for a motorcycle racing team since 2004, it makes sense.

Hamlin, who drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, finished second in the Sprint Cup standings in 2010 and is sponsored by Fed Ex, Coca-Cola and Gillette.

Jordan Brand also sponsors Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwayne Wade, Ray Allen, Derek Jeter and Bobcats players Gerald Wallace and D.J. Augustine, among others in the sports world.
