Man charged after motorcycle passenger killed in York County 5-vehicle crash

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A man has been charged after a woman was killed and another person was hurt in a five-vehicle crash in York County Sunday afternoon, troopers said.

The Highway Patrol responded around 4:30 p.m. to the wreck on U.S. 21 near Galleria Boulevard.

Officials said three motorcycles and a pickup truck were sitting at a traffic light when a sedan, driven by 68-year-old Robert Ormand, rear-ended one of the motorcycles. The motorcycle was then pushed into the pickup truck, which then hit two other motorcycles.

The passenger on the first motorcycle, Amanda Wilson, was thrown from the bike and died at the scene. The driver was taken to the hospital for their injuries.

Troopers have charged Ormand with felony DUI causing death, felony DUI causing bodily injury and possession of cocaine.
