CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Thursday evening near businesses in the south side of town.
It happened around 5:20 p.m. CMPD officers were spotted setting up crime scene tape in a shopping center off South Boulevard near Sharon Lakes Road.
MEDIC confirmed to Channel 9 that one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after the shooting.
Police haven’t released any information yet. It’s not clear if a suspect is wanted or in custody at this time.
