CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the possibility that a 13-year-old girl may have been the victim of sex trafficking.
According to police, the CMPD human trafficking task was made aware that the girl was being treated at a local hospital on Jan.1.
The investigation revealed that the victim worked with representatives of the escort service, but was never held against her will or in captivity, which Channel 9 had initially reported.

Police immediately launched an investigation and found out the girl was communicating with representatives from an online escort service and negotiating a plan to make money through the escort service.
