CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A teenager shot Tuesday in the parking lot of a convenience store is the same person who stole a car, led police on a pursuit and then jumped onto a moving train to escape back in July, Channel 9 learned.
William Mason, a 17-year-old, and a 14-year-old were shot Tuesday evening in the parking lot of a convenience store on Brookshire Boulevard near I-85, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Police said a car pulled into the parking lot at the Skye Mart Convenience store and one of the individuals in the car fired shots at a group of people.
Mason fled the scene toward I-85 after he was shot, police said.
Channel 9 learned Mason is the same suspect involved in a police chase that Chopper 9 captured in July. The chase ended with Mason jumping onto a train in west Charlotte trying to escape police.
He was caught and charged with possession of a stolen car.
He was found and taken to Carolinas Medical Center. First responders said the victim is expected to survive.
Police said a 14-year-old showed up a short time later at Presbyterian Hospital with a gunshot wound.
Detectives are working to determine a motive for the shooting. There is no information on the shooter, police said.
