Reward raised to $18K after blind beagle found decapitated

An animal rescue group has raised a reward to $18,000 for information about a dog found dead in a family's backyard.

The family said they found Libby, a blind, 13-year old beagle, decapitated two weeks ago.

Tri-county animal rescue said donations have been pouring in from across the country to help police figure out who killed her.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Cpl. Paul Aleander at 704-734-0444 or 704-730-2119.

Libby was a rescue that they'd had for about six years, the owners said.

They let all three of their dogs out into their fenced-in backyard on April 30, but Libby never came back inside.

They found her body in the yard and her head was missing.

"Can't believe people are that sick,” owner Dennis Morrow said. “There are individuals out there that would enjoy doing something like this.

The dog’s head has not been recovered, Morrow said.
