2 Gastonia men sentenced to federal prison for fentanyl, gun sales

GASTONIA, N.C. — Two Gastonia men have been sentenced to federal prison for distributing fentanyl-laced pills and selling firearms in Gaston County.

Bryan Tromon Green, 35, was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years and 7 months in prison. Co-conspirator Jarvis Sentell Lynn, 38, was previously sentenced to 9 years and 2 months in prison for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine.

Court documents show both Green and Lynn are multiple-time convicted felons. Their sentences follow a joint law enforcement investigation into illicit drug sales and illegal firearm trafficking in Gaston County between March 2024 and May 2024.

Russ Ferguson, U.S. attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, announced the sentencings and highlighted federal prosecution efforts targeting repeat offenders.

“When repeat felons like this spread deadly drugs and illegal guns on our streets, we will take those cases federal to put an end to it,” Ferguson said.

According to court documents, Green sold fentanyl pills multiple times to a confidential informant working with law enforcement between March 2024 and April 2024. During the investigation, the informant also purchased two firearms from Green: a Walther Model PK380 .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol and an American Tactical Imports Model Omni Hybrid 5.56-caliber semiautomatic rifle, the U.S. attorney said.

Law enforcement officers also arranged multiple controlled drug purchases with Lynn at his Gastonia residence between March 2024 and May 2024 for pills pressed with fentanyl.

During one transaction, officers bought a Ruger Model P89DC 9mm semiautomatic pistol from Lynn. On May 16, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Lynn’s residence, seizing firearms, ammunition and drugs.

Green and Lynn both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, as well as distribution of fentanyl.

Green’s sentence includes four years of supervised release following his prison term, while Lynn received three years of supervised release.

Both men are currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons upon designation to a federal facility.
