Woman charged in connection with shooting death of 5-year-old Cannon Hinnant

WILSON, N.C. — A second person has been charged in connection with the August shooting death of Wilson, North Carolina 5-year-old Cannon Hinnant, WTVD reported.

Wilson police said Aolani Takemi Marie Pettit, 21, of Wilson, was arrested Tuesday. She was charged with felony accessory after the fact and received a $250,000 secured bond.

On Aug. 9, police said a neighbor, 25-year-old Darius Sessoms, walked up to Cannon while the boy was playing outside with his siblings and shot him in the head.

Sessoms was arrested and charged a short time after the murder. He faces a first-degree murder charge.
