Officers seize 40 grams of fentanyl at Ashe County traffic stop, sheriff says

ASHE COUNTY, N.C. — A 22-year-old man is accused of trafficking fentanyl, the Ashe County sheriff announced Monday.

Deputies and Highway Patrol troopers pulled over a vehicle Jan. 19 in Glendale Springs and identified Hunter Joel Radford, of Crumpler, N.C., as one of the passengers.

Officers seized 40 grams of fentanyl during the traffic stop.

Detectives later served a search warrant at Radford’s home and found 32 more grams of fentanyl, several pounds of marijuana, guns and cash.

Radford faces three charges of trafficking opium/heroin and felony possession of marijuana. He is being held at the Ashe County Detention Center under a $750,000 secured bond.
