84-year-old local Korean War veteran gets new roof for free

MORGANTON, N.C. — He fought for our country and now, two organizations are giving a local Korean War veteran a new roof.

For nearly 60 years, 84-year-old Charles Hall has lived in the Dysartville community after serving in the Navy during the Korean War.

He showed Channel 9 the water stains on the ceiling in his living room. But when he goes to bed Tuesday night, he won’t have to worry about water leaking into his home.

“After meeting Charles and hearing his story and everything that he has been through, it just makes me feel so good and love what I do even more to be able to help somebody who is deserving and gave so much for our country,” Andrea McMall from K&L Dunrite Roofing said.
