ANSON COUNTY, N.C. — Anson County High School has canceled the remainder of the boys’ soccer season.
“This was not a decision we made lightly… The safety and well-being of our players has to come first..." the announcement read.
A spokesperson with Anson County Schools said the boys soccer record was 0-9. The last two games were canceled due to a lack of players to safely field a team.
The announcement said this decision does not mean the end of the boys’ soccer program: “We will use this experience to look ahead, build our numbers, and come back stronger in the future.”
The district said the current coach serves as the head coach for both men’s and women’s soccer programs. The women’s soccer season begins in the spring.
