Appeals panel to vote on local baseball team’s last shot to get into playoffs

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — The Buford High School Yellow Jackets baseball team will get one last shot to get into the playoffs, but their fate won’t be decided on the field.

The team was minutes away from boarding the bus Saturday for the playoffs but learned they wouldn’t be going because another team broke the rules.

Legion Collegiate Academy in Rock Hill played with an ineligible player and had to forfeit games, which changed the regional standings, dropping Buford from the postseason.
