BOONE, N.C. — Two pedestrians suffered potentially life-threatening injuries late Wednesday night after a vehicle left the road and struck them on West King Street in Boone before driving away, according to police.
Boone Police, Boone Fire and Watauga County EMS responded to the collision near 1358 West King Street at approximately 11:34 p.m. Emergency crews transported both victims to Watauga Medical Center for treatment.
The injured pedestrians were a 20-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from Boone.
According to investigators, the two were walking along the roadway when an unidentified vehicle left the road, struck both individuals and drove away.
Officers processed the scene and recovered vehicle debris believed to have come from the vehicle involved. Boone Police are actively searching for the driver and working to identify the vehicle.
