BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A highway in Burke County was shut down for nearly two hours following a chase on Tuesday.
The chase involved a motorcyclist and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol told Channel 9 that the chase began after deputies spotted two motorcycles traveling at a high rate of speed.
At some point during the pursuit, one of the motorcyclists struck the back of a pickup truck near the dump site. That motorcyclist was later declared deceased, according to troopers.
No additional details have been made available.
