On Wednesday, the NFL awarded 18 teams access to what it’s calling international home marketing areas.

Carolina is one of four teams receiving rights to sell sponsorships, align with other sports and entertainment properties, sell merchandise, host youth football and fan events, and tailor digital and in-person marketing messages in Germany.

Other NFL teams also given access to market in Germany are the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The initiative is aimed at increasing international interest in the NFL while giving individual teams the opportunity to forge direct ties with specific countries. So far, 18 of 32 teams have been assigned to 26 designated marketing areas in eight countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
