Channel 9 speaks to Charlotte doctor about new type of COVID-19 test

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There’s a lot of talk about a new type of COVID-19 test that detects antibodies, possibly showing whether people have had the virus and might now be immune.

But Channel 9 learned not everyone is using that test, including Tryon Medical Partners in Charlotte.

“The antibody tests are going to be helpful, but I’m not sure that they are going to be helpful in the Charlotte area yet,” said Dr. Ryan Shelter.
