Charlotte couple to transform old Plaza Midwood church into restaurant

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — These Charlotte restaurateurs are breathing new life into a former Plaza Midwood church.

Supperland, a restaurant and cocktail bar, aims to open at 1212 The Plaza in early 2020, says Jeff Tonidandel. He is tackling that project with wife Jamie Brown.

Construction is expected to start in June.

“One of our big things is to keep Charlotte’s history alive and keep our old buildings,” Brown says. “We like to go in old buildings.”

This is the fifth venture for the couple. They’re also behind Crepe Cellar — which marks its 10-year anniversary this month — Growler’s Pourhouse, Haberdish and Reigning Donuts. All of those restaurants are in NoDa.
