Charlotte Douglas ranked second worst airport for late travelers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — When you’re in a rush to make your flight, you just hope the TSA lines aren’t very long and you can run right to your gate.

But, if you fly out of Charlotte, your odds aren’t very good.

FinanceBuzz looked at the 45 busiest airports in the United States and found you’re highly likely to miss your flight.

The study looked at 12 things including on-time departure percentage, number of gates and how big the airports are.

Charlotte Douglas Airport ranked the second worst meaning you’re very likely to miss your flight if you’re cutting it close. Charlotte Douglas was one of the biggest airports they looked at.

One thing Charlotte was dinged on -- the average TSA wait time is nearly 32 minutes.

The worst airport was Newark-Liberty International. It was a nearly 34 minute TSA wait time.

Also in the top ten are Minneapolis St. Paul, Atlanta International and JFK in New York City.
