Charlotte mayor touts progress on CLT lease talks

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Mayor Rob Harrington and American Airlines Group Inc. provided assurances over the past week that the airport and its hub airline are making progress on a new lease — but no details have been disclosed.

The comments come three months after city government and American Airlines agreed to extend lease discussions through June 2027. American Airlines and the other carriers at CLT signed a 10-year lease in 2016 that ended June 30.
