Cheat’s Cheesesteak Parlor to add a restaurant in South End

CHARLOTTE — Cheat’s Cheesesteak Parlor is headed to South End.

Filings with the city of Charlotte show that a 1,000-square-foot, walk-up restaurant will be constructed at 2127 Hawkins St. It will sit on a 0.47-acre parcel. Permits are pending for the site.

Plans call for that building to have a pick-up window and outdoor dining, similar to the Cheat’s restaurant that opened last summer on the cusp of the Plaza Midwood and Elizabeth neighborhoods. The South End location will front the Rail Trail and be neighbors with Portman Holdings’ The Line — home to Sycamore Brewing — and its planned, 24-story apartment tower next door.
