Church shows appreciation for local emergency responders

CHARLOTTE, N .C. — Cook's Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charlotte provided a way to give back to emergency responders.

The church hosted an event for first responders Sunday morning.

After the service, the church held a lunch in honor of the responders, and then the congregation got a chance to speak to them and say thank you in person.

“We wanted to do something positive for them, so we just wanted to say thank you to them and have a special day for them,” said F.D. Hager, from Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Each first responder received a plaque of appreciation.

“It's great to have the opportunity to really connect with them on a personal basis,” said Mecklenburg County Sheriff Irwin Carmichael.
