City of Cherryville approves emergency fund to repair homes following severe weather

CHERRYVILLE, N.C. — The Cherryville City Council voted to declare a state of emergency after severe weather damaged multiple homes.

This means homeowners would get money from the state to help pay for repairs.

Channel 9′s Gaston County reporter Ken Lemon spoke with a Cherryville homeowner who had 12 trees fall on his property during the storms.

The resident told Channel 9 his insurance only covers a portion of the repair; the rest will be paid for by him.
