CHARLOTTE - A child drowned in southeast Charlotte on Saturday night, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.
Medics responded to a call from the 1700 block of Renard Ridge Drive, close to Monroe Road.
A police officer told reporter Blake Hanson the victim was an 8-year-old boy.
Police said three children climbed the fence surrounding the pool area and began to swim. The 8-year-old had trouble swimming in the deep end.
Medics took the boy to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators are talking with the property manager as well as the pool management company. There is no suspicion of foul play or any indication charges will be filed.
