CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman was robbed at about 11:25 a.m. Wednesday in the Marshall’s parking lot in Matthews on Matthews Township Parkway, Matthews police said in a press release.
The woman told police the man a man approached her, said he had a gun and demanded her purse.
The man drove away but not before the victim took note of the license plate number and the description of the vehicle and man.
She also knew in which direction the man headed.
An undercover Matthews officer caught up with Ricky Giles Jr., 41, and contacted Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department dispatch.
After a brief chase along Independence Boulevard, CMPD pulled Giles over in the stolen Honda CRV and arrested him on Reddman Road in east Charlotte, about two hours after the robbery.
No injuries were reported.
