Longhorn bull euthanized by owners after being found following five-day search, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department located a longhorn bull that went missing on Monday night.

The 900-pound dark brown bull was seen trotting along Moores Chapel Road earlier this week. The bull was found sometime Friday night.

It was later euthanized by its owners, with CMPD on scene.

Police said the bull was euthanized due to the animal being a big concern for public safety, as well as an animal traffic hazard.

Two citations were issued in connection with this case; Level 1 one for restraint of animals and another for Level 1 nuisance.

CMPD said this case has been assigned to a lead animal control officer to investigate permits, licenses, or agricultural exceptions.
