CHARLOTTE — The cost of a starter home in the Queen City has essentially doubled over the past decade or so, according to a “State of Housing in Charlotte” report released this week and highlighted by multiple local news outlets.
It was issued by the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate at UNC Charlotte’s Belk College of Business.

Prior to 2011, The Charlotte Observer notes in its take on the report, first-time homebuyers in Charlotte could expect to find a property in the neighborhood of $150,000. By 2020, those same households would need to consider starter homes as those priced under $300,000.
