CHARLOTTE — A “shelter in place” alert was issued Wednesday afternoon at Central Piedmont Community College- Central Campus, while police tried to find someone on the campus outside of uptown, police said.
It was lifted late afternoon and normal activities resumed at the campus.
CMPD stated that officers saw a car connected with someone that had outstanding warrants.

However, officers could not find that person with the warrants.
ALERT Central Campus: Please shelter in place until further notice. Please close and lock all doors as CMPD is pursuing a suspect on Central Campus. At this time we do not know if suspect is armed. College Security is monitoring the situation with CMPD. More info to follow.

“There is no indication that the person with outstanding warrants was armed or posed any threat to anyone,” CMPD stated in a news release.
