Officer was one of the first out of car, his gun drawn to arrest 21 year old Dylann Roof.

Roof had a gun in the back seat of his car, but never reached for it. He gave up without a fight.

The arrest happened hours after police said Roof went into a black Charleston church and killed nine people during bible study.

He told one survivor to spread to word about why he did. He reportedly wanted to start a race war.

Roof went on the run, stopping at Charlotte gas station.

The pursuit in Shelby began after Todd Frady's call to 911. He told me he had no regrets about calling police.

“As a human being, that would have been my role to do. I hope anybody else would have done that too,” Frady said.

An employee at his Kings Mountain flower shop saw Roof driving through Shelby. She followed Roof and called Frady.

"She said, 'What if it's not him'. I said, 'What if it is,’” Frady said.

He told police where to go.

Officers, unsure of what they might face, quickly moved to surround him.

Roof pulled off of the a busy Highway 74 seconds after police got behind him.

Police said not long after the stop Roof confessed the murders.
