BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Burke County deputies took several people into custody Friday morning during a standoff after they surrounded a home just west of Glen Alpine near Morganton.
It started with a report of an accident on Highway 70 where the driver took off running toward the home.
Deputies learned David Blanchard was inside and repeatedly yelled for him to come out.
Investigators said Blanchard is on their most wanted list for drug and weapons charges.
Deputies said they also saw signs of a possible meth lab inside the home.
Narcotics officers were putting on protective gear Friday morning to investigate.
Blanchard is locked up under a $100,000 bond. Deputes said they also arrested two other people at the home wanted on other charges.
