Deputies: Inmate tried to hide heroin in groin area

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Gaston County inmate faces new charges after deputies said he tried to hide black tar heroin, our news partners at the Gaston Gazette reported.

A Gaston County Sheriff's Office deputy said he saw David Howard try to conceal drug paraphernalia in his groin area while in the jail's shower.

David Michael Howard, 35, of Lowell, who's jailed on a fraudulent check charge, is now charged with possession of a controlled substance in jail.
