Disturbing allegations mount against Rock Hill daycare

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Channel 9 has uncovered more disturbing allegations against a Rock Hill daycare.

Since our first report on A Child’s Heart in June, Eyewitness News has uncovered several complaints with the Department of Social Services.

Reporter DaShawn Brown learned another investigation has been opened with the state after a 4-year-old boy came home with a lump on his head.

Brown went to the daycare Wednesday to ask about that complaint. She also tried contacting the daycare operator, but no one has responded.

A former employee, who did not want to be identified, contacted Brown and said she witnessed a child getting hurt. That former employee said a staff member hit her son, leaving the lump.

DSS confirmed they received the complaint and are investigating.

“My concern is that daycare needs to be shut down,” the woman said.

Two weeks ago, Channel 9 reported that there have been more than 90 complaints over two years -- 30 of them were considered safety risks.

in June, Channel 9 reported that daycare workers admitted that they forgot a 3-year-old boy when they left from a field trip at a park.

The former employee left the daycare because she said she didn’t want to see any more children being harmed.

“The safety of the children is being missed,” the woman said. “That's my main concern -- is always the children.”

DSS officials said they couldn't say any more about this case because they're still investigating.

The daycare is already under a corrective action plan because of all the complaints before the latest allegation.
