The northbound lanes were shut down on Monday night and created backups for at least an hour after they reopened.
The DOT instructed drivers to get off I-85 at exit 68 (U.S. Route 29), head south to Lane Street East and get back onto I-85 South at exit 63.
The southbound lanes reopened just after 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
