CHARLOTTE — A driver was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle in a crash that killed an eight-year-old girl in north Charlotte, police said.
Nyomi Summers died after being hit on her bicycle on Monmouth Drive last weekend.
Neighbors told Channel 9 the driver revved his engine and sped up before the crash.
Police originally charged Khaliyal Burney with driving with a revoked license and registration violations.
He was in jail on Wednesday afternoon under a $20,000 bond.
