CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after they said a man was hit and killed by a minivan after he tried to run from the scene of a crash Wednesday morning in Caldwell County.
According to troopers, 43-year-old Jason Ali was driving a Pontiac Vibe when he was involved in a rear-end collision with another vehicle around 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 321, near Mission Road, just south of Hudson.

Ali then got out of his vehicle and ran across the highway, where he was hit by a minivan in the southbound lanes, according to troopers.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said no charges will be filed against the driver that hit Ali.
Highway 321 was closed for nearly 90 minutes while the Highway Patrol investigated.
