CONCORD, N.C. — The Federal Aviation Administration will reveal the final list Friday of which small airport control towers will close as a result of federal spending cuts.
People in Concord and Hickory will be watching to see if their towers are on the list.
The airport has already appealed the FAA's decision to close its control tower, so it's very eager to see the list Friday.
If the tower closed, flights would still be able to land there, but it would be up to pilots to communicate with each other to avoid collisions.
Airport officials said if the tower closes operations could decline and it could lose more than 700 charter flights that rely on the tower. Most of those flights involved NASCAR race teams.
The FAA was supposed to release its list of tower closures Monday, but delayed the decision due to appeals.
